Job summary

The Red Hat Consulting team is seeking a Principal Domain Architect to join us in Mountain View, CA. In this role, you will expand and develop our Red Hat JBoss Middleware business by working closely with our most strategic enterprise customers to create middleware solutions that meet their unique needs. You'll help these customers decide which Red Hat products are right for them, earn the trust of their senior IT and business executives, and develop repeatable methods that scale our offerings for a broader customer base. You'll need a combination of customer-facing consulting skills and in-depth technical knowledge, because you'll act as the customer's advocate within Red Hat to develop appropriate solutions and ensure they are implemented in an innovative and reliable way.

Primary job responsibilities
  • Create and deliver middleware solutions that meet the unique needs of our enterprise customers
  • Be involved in all sales life cycle activities including pre-sales, delivery, and post-sales
  • Partner and act as a trusted advisor to customer accounts, engage with clients at senior IT and executive levels, and help determine the best product solution for their needs
  • Develop repeatable sales and delivery methods that scale Red Hat offerings for a broader customer base
  • Prior to an engagement, research the client’s business, political and competitive environment
  • Billing target of 50% billing to new and active client engagements
Required skills
  • Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field
  • 8 years of experience, or a related technical or software integration role
  • Experience making IT presentations to non-technical and technical audiences
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of middleware infrastructure
  • Professional track record of architecting and managing the delivery and implementation of middleware infrastructure solutions
  • Direct experience with open source technologies and knowledge of open source industry trends
  • Direct experience with delivering and presenting technical solutions to an audience ranging from technical to executive
  • Willingness to travel up to 100%; while not traveling, candidate will be expected to report to Red Hat’s Mountain View office
